Gingerbread Men

Let's talk about gingerbread men.

I baked some of these cute creatures on Thursday with my girls. It was the high point of my week.

You see, as much as baking was a new experience to me, it also was for my girls. As much as I felt thrilled at being able to try something for the first time, so did they. And I told them repeatedly that I also did not know what to do.

Well, I definitely can't bake, but I can read instructions and follow them. Thank God for cookie pre-mixes.  Thank God for gifted bakers who decide to bless the not-so-gifted by providing pre-mixes and simple instructions.

We all have got to face our weaknesses head-on and by overcoming them, we convince ourselves that there is indeed more inside us than we know of, and we are not that bad.

As trivial as it seems, I know God is walking this journey of baking and cooking with me.  It all started when He provided me with the oven, which my mother-in-law passed to me.

So, cheers to having the courage to keep doing something we are bad at!

Enjoy the Ride

Today I took the "train ride" at vivocity. It was pouring and we waited and waited and waited for the rain to stop, before we got on the ride.

And boy, were the kids happy when we finally got on the train.  Who cares that we had waited close to an hour for this 5 min ride?

The wait was worth it, because they made it worth it. They didn't complain and they didn't get angry.  They only waited patiently and enjoyed the ride.

I hope they learn as they grow up, to wait joyfully and enjoy the fruit.

My Two Girls

People say girls are made of sugar, spice and all things nice. What exactly are girls about?

One thing I am learning from my two girls are that, girls love to be Princesses. Princesses are supposed to be pretty.  And girls love to be pretty.  Or rather, they need to know they are pretty.

God created each of us and we are beautiful in His sight.  He looks beyond what we see and He absolutely loves us for who we are, not what we can do or what we look like. He looks at the heart, not the outward appearance like man.

And how we need to teach our girls, and ourselves, this truth - we are beautiful and loved to the point of redeeming, sacrificial love by the one and only God.

It is my prayer that my two girls grow up with this truth etched in their hearts.
